Happy Birthday Stevie!

That's right, it's time to say happy birthday to our honorary Sassy Stamper-STEVIE!!

I whipped up this card for him last night. A bit late considering his birthday was Saturday. However, I have been mad at my scrap room. It's bringing me absolutely no inspiration lately. I hope that I am now over the hump and can get back to work.

Check out Stevie's birthday cake card. . .

Thanks for looking.

My Mom's Birthday Card

My Mom's birthday is on the 31st and that means that this weekend begins her birthday celebration. That's right, in my family you celebrate for at least a week. My husband was lucky if anyone acknowledged his birthday when he was a kid so marrying into a family like mine was really threw him for a loop. He still doesn't understand the concept of an extended celebration-Go Figure!!

Tomorrow is the party for the immediate family. That means present time!! I think she will like all of the things that I chose for her. She buys everything she wants so she is bit hard to shop for. . .I think I did okay.

I thought I would post the card that I made for her. My friends will be very surprised by this card because usually I am ANTI-butterfly stamps. However, I can proudly say that there are no butterfly stamps on this card at all. Amazing, huh?

I used SEI dp (then I blinged it up with some Denami translucent glitter). Then I used Bazzill Bling cs. The butterflies on the left side are cardboard punchouts that came in my Club SEI set a long while back. With a little bit of careful bending, my butterflies look like they are trying to fly off the page. As for the vellum butterfly. . .No stamp there either, that is all handmade my friends. I dry embossed by tracing a butterfly that was on a scrap piece of the SEI dp onto the vellum, cut around it, then went over most of the dry embossing with a Quickie Glue Pen and my Denami translucent glitter. I used the Fiskars Effervescence border punch at the bottom. Not sure if you can tell from the picture but this is a very glitzed out card. I hope it's not too much, there is a lot going on there.

Anyway, I hope you all have an awesome weekend. Thanks for looking.

Some Bunny Loves You

Easter has never been my favorite holiday. . .From a religious standpoint, I certainly respect the reason for celebration. From a commercial standpoint, I have never been into the Easter basket hype. However, from a stamping perspective, I think I am in love with this holiday. I was talking to someone on Saturday who said that with all the cutie pie bunny and chickie stamps, Easter was her favorite by far. I have to say that I am leaning in that direction.

I stamped the card below using a newly EZ-mounted red rubber stamp that I found at convention. It was hard to see the image clearly but I just couldn't resist the bunny. I just love this stamp. . .What a find! Then I used the three other Studio G stamps to complete the card (the carrot stamp and both sentiments). I topped it off with some Copic coloring technique and a whole lot of glitter and Voila-an Easter Card to be proud of. I hope you enjoy it too.

Thanks for looking.

Sandy's Corner Class

Prescott Trip-Part 2

So when we arrived at Sandy's Corner, we had some time to look around. Since this was my first trip there, I didn't know what to expect. I was almost immediately hooked. The storefront is an adorable little house that is so inviting. Then you walk through the doors and are greeted by two of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Sandy and Jim have owned businesses together for many years and this is either their 3rd or 4th endeavor.

After about a half hour or so of browsing, we were already piling up the product. We had to take a break for our class though. Now, I would have thought that Sandy would be the teacher. However, Kathy told us ahead of time that Jim is the mastermind behind the classroom. Of course Sandy is super talented as well and was willing to demo anything we wanted. She got my Mom absolutely hooked on one of the projects she was working on.

I have to admit, I didn't know what to expect. All we had mentioned is that we would like to sharpen our masking techniques. Jim was amazing, he taught us some awesome masking techniques and we had a lesson in coloring that knocked my socks off and gave me a whole new perspective on using colored pencils. I am so excited to actually start using them. I thought I would post the pictures of the cards we made. Of course, I have to give 100% full credit to Jim and Sandy at Sandy's Corner for these fabulous projects. The Sassy Stampers will be back for round two very soon!!!

Thanks again Sandy and Jim!!!

Happy Birthday Dad!

My Dad's birthday was Wednesday and we had a familly celebration on Sunday. My Mom and Dad keep all the cards that I have made for them over the years and so it's important for their cards to be super special. At the end of our big family dinner of spaghetti and meatballs, we sang a sad rendition of Happy Birthday and then he opened his card. I think he really liked it. Here it is:

The colors in this card came out much lighter than I intended but I think they give an overall softness to the card.

Happy Birthday Dad- - -And many more!

Our First Field Trip

So as I mentioned, the "Sassies" took a trip to Prescott. This was our first official field trip. Since it was Kathy's birthday, we took her to the Victorian Garden Tea Room (one of her favorite places). We laughed so hard we were almost crying. The lady that runs the tea room was like a character out of a horror movie. We all fully expected her to come out of the kitchen at any moment wielding a butcher knife and take us all out. Thank goodness the food was great and we were the perfect guests. She had no tolerance for any kind of nonsense whatsoever. On the other hand, the place was really cute and before we realized that she may be possessed by the devil, I asked her to take this picture of all of us.

The four ladies in the pic make up the "Sassies". Cher is on the left and Kathy is at the head of the table where every birthday girl should be. Then there is me and next to me is my adorable Mom, Roz. You may notice that there is an honorary member of the opposite sex. . .That's Stevie. He is our embossing "Wizard", our mascot, our security guard, our voice of reason (sometimes), and most important of all. . .our very good friend. He thinks were nuts-of course what stamper isn't, right? However, we are entertaining and I think that's what makes him keep comin' around. He probably knows more about stamps than a lot of stampers out there, however, he would never admit it for fear of getting his man-card revoked. We love you Stevie!!

After the Tea Room, we went over to Sandy's Corner, the local stamp shop and took a class. It was awesome, I will take pics of the cards and post them later this week. The owners Sandy and Jim were so welcoming, helpful, and talented. . .The "Sassies" can't wait to go for another visit.

Mojo Monday Week 77

So I decided to take a stab at the Mojo Monday sketch this week. I just love looking at all the entries and even though my name is one in a sea of participants, I just love to be a part of it. Here is this week's sketch:So I decided on a cupcake theme for this week's sketch. This paper has been in my stash for a long time and it just kept calling to me. I love pink and brown-can't get enough of it-and all the crazy patterns on this card sure make it "interesting" to look at.

Ingredients:

Paper: DP-American Crafts

Stamps: Big cupcake and sentiment-My Favorite Things, Mini cupcake and leaf-Stamps by Judith

Coloring: Copic markers

Embellishments: Clear dimensional glaze-Inkssentials, Chunky glitter-Stampendous, Fine glitter-Susie Sparkle

Thanks for looking and let me know what you think. I am always looking for good ideas to get the best possible pictures. I would love some advice.

Happy Birthday Kathy!!!

I had the pleasure of spending the day with one of my absolute best friends, Kathy, last Saturday to celebrate her birthday. The "Sassies" took her on a trip to Prescott (more on that later this week). The pressure of making the perfect card for my fellow Sassy Stamper. . .almost to much to handle. Here is what I finally decided on for her card:

Hope you all have a great week.

Prescott Here We Come!!

Saturday is a very special day. . .Not only is it the first field trip for the Sassy Stampers, it is also one of the member's birthdays! We are having a birthday celebration with Kathy at the Victorian Garden Tea Room in Prescott. Then we are off to a private class at the local stamp store in Prescott called Sandy's Corner. We have been looking forward to it all week. I sure hope this rowdy group can keep it together for high tea at the Victorian Garden. I wouldn't want to embarrass Kathy. All I know is that I am taking Kathy's advice and going for the finger sandwiches that take 4 bites, not 2.

On a more serious note. . .Kathy is a dear friend of mine and I can't wait to celebrate the day with her and the other members of the Sassy Stampers.

To get myself in the birthday mood, I am posting a masculine birthday card today. I will post Kathy's foo-foo birthday card on Sunday after I give it to her. She has to have some surprises for her big day, right??

Have a great Friday!!

Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad

My parents are celebrating their 43rd anniversary tomorrow. I can't imagine what it must be like to be with someone for 43 years. I look forward to the day that Tyler & I can celebrate the same. My parents are going to a local casino for the weekend which means I will have all the pups from Friday until Tuesday. That should be interesting. I am not sure how much time I will be able to spend in my scraproom with all the commotion but I am looking forward to spending some quality time with Charlie's brother Jake and Bernie's sister Sadie. Yep, we have sibling pups. It's great!!!

Anyway, I made this card for my parents tonight. Let me know what you think!

I used K & Company's Faded China dp designed by Amy Butler. Ink and ribbon is by Anna Griffin. Stamps are from Fiskars and Inkadinkado.

Hope you have a great Thursday!

Happy Valentine's Day Hubby!

Valentine's Day was postponed at my house until Sunday the 15th but my honey definitely made it up to me.

I made some really cute cards for my hubby over the past couple weeks but ended up showing him my work along the way. Today he mentioned something very interesting to me. He reminded me that I never actually signed a card and gave it to him. Oops!!

So I decided I would make him a card he hadn't already seen. He loved it and he thought the sentiment was hysterical. He couldn't believe it was actually a stamp out there that said "Won't you be my little love monkey?".

I must give credit to the following companies for the awesome products I used to create this super adorable card:

Amuse: Black patterned paper with white polka dots

My Favorite Things: White patterned paper with black polka dots

Stamps: Stampendous Changitos (various sets)

Bazzil: Black and white cardstock

Happy Belated Valentine's Day!

You Take the Cake

Hi Everyone-

Just wanted to share a birthday card that I made using lots and lots of panels. I just love that layered look. I stamped the birthday cake in about 5 different colors until I decided that magenta embossing powder was the way to go. Just what every girly birthday card needs.

Enjoy.

Smooch!!

Always and forever trying live up to my reputation as being "the cool Aunt", I just had to come up with the perfect card for my niece Mackenzie for Valentine's day. So, I decided to send her a Smooch!!

Check out this card. . .I designed it to basically look like the front of any 13 year old girl's school notebook with a little added glitz. I think she'll love it.

Stamps: My Favorite Things-solid hearts, Stampendous-large heart and "Smooch" sentiment, and Martha Stewart-xoxoxo border
Paper: Bazzil-cardstock, Fancy Pants-patterned paper
Embellishments: Stickles-silver, Fiskars-border punch

Have a great night!

Sassy Stamper Meeting

Today was a fantastic day-the February Sassy Stamper meeting.

Since there are some newbies in the group, I decided to demonstrate the Wizard today. Almost every card I designed used the tool in some way. They absolutely loved it-of course. However, when I went over to help my friend Kathy get started, we had a little mishap and she crushed my finger with the handle of the tool. Even though the pain immediately brought tears to my eyes, I just couldn't stop laughing. In fact, we laughed so hard all day long, my sides still hurt. What would we do without our friends? They sure make life interesting.

My finger is better now and the swelling has subsided but watch out for Kathy. She tends to get a bit "over-excited" about her love for stamping. Just kidding. . .She's the best!!

Here is a card that I designed for our last meeing. . .I will be posting the cards I designed for February's meeting throughout the week.

Thanks for reading.

Let's Here It For The Boy

I love this stamp set. I think it's hilarious. It is as if the artist took a picture of my family room (minus the fish plaque). I just had to try it out. So I made a birthday card. This is perfect for my Dad's March birthday, right up his alley.

I used SEI velvet paper and embossed each colored strip with a different Cuttlebug embossing folder using my Wizard. The stamp set is "Let's hear it for the boy" from My Favorite Things and the sentiment is one of my favorites from Hero Arts.

So it's the end of my Thursday. The week is almost over and I am looking forward to a jam packed weekend of stamping. Stay tuned. . .

Method Monday-In Style Stamps

So I mentioned last week that I had received some SUPER CUTE goodies from In Style Stamps that I just couldn't wait to use. Today, I got a chance to participate in their Method Monday challenge using one of my new stamps.

All the papers I used are by SEI along with the rub on for the front cover. For the inside portion of the card, I used Marti-just one of In Style's totally fab stamps. Marti was colored with Copics and I used my purple and gold Spicas to color her dress and give it some glitz.

I deviated just a bit by adding an extra element to the card-a band that slides over the card to help keep it closed. Cute and functional-gotta love it! Check it out. . .

With the slide closure (belly band). . .

Without the belly band. . .

The card inside the card. . .

Inside sentiment. . .

This card was so fun to make.
Thanks for a great tutorial Jen!

Fun Valentine

I saw this paper and I just needed to use it to make a Valentine for my hubby Tyler. This will be one of several he will get this year from me. Let's face it. . .There is just too much great stuff out there to only make one. My fellow stampers and scrappers know exactly what I mean.

I used quite an assortment of products on this card, so here it goes. . .
Scalloped paper: Creative Imaginations
All other paper: Fancy Pants
Tag shaped stamp: A Muse clear stamp set
Key, front sentiment, and right border heart stamps: Hero Arts
Inside sentiment: My Favorite Things-Be Mine (Mini Set)
Embellishments: Brads by Making Memories and glitter by Stickles

Check later for another card. I am just finishing up my Method Monday challenge for In Style Stamps.

Poor Charlie Brown

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. My puppy, Charlie Brown, had minor surgery on Friday and I have been tending to him in all my free time. He's doing quite a bit better today but the vet said he was a big baby the day of surgery. He cried unless one of the vet techs sat right next to him the whole time he was in recovery and until he went home. That sounds about right. Even though he is a very big boy (53 pounds), I have to remember he is just 5 months old and I can't expect him to act all grown up. He really is still a baby!!

Anyway, here is a picture of Charlie for you to enjoy. . .

New Stamps Received!!!

Well the last two days have been great for my stamping habit.

Yesterday I confirmed that Denami Designs is coming to my local stamp store in AZ, Stamp Works, to do their ever-famous Blitz classes. I am going with a group of friends and it should be a great time. We have already signed up for the March classes.

Today, my mailbox was filled with a big fat package from In Style Stamps. Really fast shipping--That's what I like. Anyway, I received some great card stock and shimmer papers but most importantly, I received 4 of their stamps. They are so SUPER CUTE. Check out their site at http://www.instylestamps.com/. I am looking so forward to playing in my scrap room this weekend to see what I can come up with. I will make sure to share as soon as my creations are complete.

In the meantime, I decided to post a card that uses stamps to create a background paper. I used a set of Heidi Grace stamps for the background and the sentiment is from Fiskars. I used the Heidi Swapp edge distressing tool to give it a bit of texture. The whole look of the card is very organic, I wasn't necessarily going for that but was happy with the outcome.

Enjoy and have a great Thursday.

Happy Birthday Mackenzie!!!

So today is the day!! My niece Mackenzie officially becomes a teenager. She is just about the cutest 13 year old I have ever seen.

A while back we had talked about me making her invitations for her party. I decided that instead of a regular invite, I would create something she would hand deliver to her choice guests. . .Something memorable for the big 13.

Take a look at the invite "box" below and let me know what you think. Her friends were highly impressed and some even got in trouble at school for playing with it. It was super fun to make. I started them by myself but then she slept over one night and helped me finish them. She is the sweetest kid. . .So grateful that I would take time out to do this for her. I guess she doesn't realize she has me wrapped around her little finger. I would give her the world.

I have made my family their birthday cards for many, many years. Mackenzie keeps them all together in a special place. This is the card I gave her this year to add to her collection. It has a shaker box on the front with silver sequins and the inside of the card is a pop up stack of presents that I saw a demo of on You Tube. She loved it. Check out the pics:

Happy Birthday Mackenzie!!!

My New Blog

I am so excited to have my own blog to display my projects. I have been scrapbooking for about 12 years but my passion is cardmaking. Lately, I am completely obsessed with rubber stamping. Don't get me wrong, I have been stamping for years but when I say I'm obsessed with it now. . .I mean OBSESSED!!!

Here is a card I just recently made with stamps from Whipper Snapper Designs, Stampin' Up, and the Happy Birthday sentiment is by Me and My Big Ideas. I colored in with Copics and added some shimmer with a clear Spica.
